Dashboards & Reporting

More than numbers.
A reason to act.

I build dashboards and reports that reveal performance gaps, highlight potential money leaks, and help you see where action is needed.

Reporting with a purpose

Start with a question.
Build a view that helps answer it.

I start with the decisions your team needs to make, then shape the data and the report around them. The goal is to make the next action clearer.

A view built around a decision

Who uses this, when, and what should they do with the information? Those answers guide what belongs on the page.

Gaps, leaks, and exceptions

See jobs slipping, invoices aging, or margins changing. Bring the differences that need attention into view.

A path to follow-up

Where useful, connect a finding to an alert, a task, or a follow-up workflow so someone can act on it.

How a report gets built

Start with the business.
Then work through the data.

Connecting sources, agreeing on definitions, and checking the numbers are central to the work. We review the design together before building the finished report.

  1. 01

    Understand the goal

Define the business question, who makes the decision, and what they need to see.

  2. 02

    Prepare the data

Find the sources, agree on rules, connect related records, and reconcile differences so the numbers can be explained.

  3. 03

    Review an interactive mockup

Explore the layout and interactions together. Refine what matters before committing to the finished report.

  4. 04

    Build and hand off

Test with real data, agree on refresh schedules and ownership, and walk through how the report will be used.

Choose the right fit

Your questions lead.
The tools follow.

I recommend the reporting approach around your team, your existing systems, and where the information needs to be used.

Reporting platforms
Power BI, Tableau, or a custom web dashboard, depending on your needs and existing environment.
Data and definitions
SQL, DAX, data preparation, and shared business rules that make the numbers consistent and understandable.
Design and interaction
Interactive prototypes, purposeful visuals, and detail you can explore when a number needs explaining.

Already have reports?

Too many reports.
Not enough trust.

I also improve existing reporting: duplicated pages, conflicting numbers, unreliable refreshes, and slow queries. We look at what is useful, what needs fixing, and what can be retired.

  1. 01

    Audit what’s actually used

Review users, owners, and overlap. Agree what stays, what can be combined, and what is no longer needed.

  2. 02

    Agree on the definitions

Document business rules and shared measures so the same metric means the same thing across reports.

  3. 03

    Make refreshes dependable

Review schedules, failure handling, and how people can tell when the data was last updated.

  4. 04

    Improve the slow parts

Review queries, data models, and calculations to address the delays that make reports difficult to use.

A few things you
may be wondering.

Power BI, Tableau, or a custom web dashboard—which should we use?

Start with what your team uses and what you already own. Power BI or Tableau may fit an existing environment. A custom web dashboard can help when you need a tailored experience inside your own tools. We choose around the data, users, and access requirements.

How long does a new report take?

It depends on the scope and how ready the data is. Connecting sources, cleaning records, and agreeing on definitions can take more work than the visuals. I scope the timeline after reviewing those needs with you.

Can you fix what we already have?

Yes. I can review what is used, identify duplicate reports, reconcile definitions, improve refresh schedules, and tune slow queries before recommending what to change.

What if our data is in several systems?

That is often part of the work. We check access, connect the sources, agree on how records relate, and document what each number includes.
